The materials are accompanied by handwritten descriptions in German. The majority of the collection includes photographs taken during travel or pilgrimages to Marian shrines around Europe.

Josef Levit, S.M. is a member of the Society of Mary based in Austria. He is the author of Blessed Jakob Gapp: Marianist, published by the North American Center for Marianist Studies in 1998.
