Abstract

This collection contains photographs documenting Marian artwork, awards, books, churches and shrines, educational programs, events, groups, individuals, libraries and museums, organizations, and religious objects. The collection is international in scope and materials date from circa 1920 through circa 1990.

Abstract The Marian postcard collection contains approximately 41,000 photographic and picture postcards (as of 2019) documenting: Marian shrines around the world, Marian artwork, and Marian themes. The shrine postcards include images of shrine statues and art works; interiors and exteriors of structures including churches, basilicas, sanctuaries, and grottos; pilgrimages and celebrations at shrines; and other images related to Catholic shrines and churches in over 70 countries. Abstract This collection contains Catholic and Marian printed ephemera including postcards, Christmas cards, greeting cards, photographs, souvenirs, brochures, pamphlets, marketing materials, and clippings. The images date from circa 1850 through 2011 and depict the Blessed Virgin Mary, Madonna and Child, events in the life of Jesus and Mary, Marian shrines, and Marian titles.
